Our students often want to have a ‘fun’ lesson, which would not demand too much effort, don’t they?
We often want to teach them ‘something’, preferably with not too much effort form our side.
Here is how to make those two wishes meet.

The lesson is based on the story of the ship ‘Titanic’.
What you need:
1. (pre-) intermediate students
2. computers lab with internet
3. you may also include Listening or Reading from intermediate English File (File 8A) or watch the film ‘Titanic’.

The advantages are that the students do not need any special supervision, they can work on their own pace, as the material is funny – they have fun as well and they learn without even noticing the process.
You may ask them to do all the task or divide them into three groups, or tell them to choose the task.

The lesson can be used as a follow-up after lessons dealing with ‘film’ vocabulary, film reviews or at any time that suits you.

1. Compare the facts from the book / the film with those presented on the website.
www.titanic-online.com -Faxs- facts about the tragedy
2. From the “goofs” site choose five and remember them to compare with the film – Are they really there?
www.imdb.com/title/#0120338/goofs - goofs, factual errors, anachronisms, crew and equipment visible
3. Watch the deleted scenes FOR PLEASURE
www.foxinternational.com/uk/titanic_dvd - deleted scenes
